I have only gotten a few comments of missing my posts but especially to those of you who live far away and miss the kids, I thank you for your understanding! I'm going back to January to start catching up with some pictures and updates... <br />
<br />
Many faces of Kinslie Faith. We have several sets of these. She's so funny! Seriously every face is different. And Brian just loves to egg her on to see how many faces he can get! What a "Silly-Kins". (as I like to say!)<br />

Ella's first day of ballet class! She is very excited here. We really enjoyed her ballet experience at the Esther Center for the Winter/Spring semester but she has asked to try gymnastics this year so we are looking into that.<br />

January had some lovely cool weather so I definitely had to make my </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Mother's Chili a few times.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XTXhxcZhf0Y/UC8B-5LqxYI/AAAAAAAAByk/vHoQQU-DEGQ/s1600/IMG_0004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XTXhxcZhf0Y/UC8B-5LqxYI/AAAAAAAAByk/vHoQQU-DEGQ/s320/IMG_0004.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Recipe:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2 pounds of ground beef</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1 onion, chopped</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
46 ounces of tomato juice</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3 cans of Joan of Arc spicy chili beans</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1 can tomato soup</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
spices: garlic, basil, chili powder, parsley and pepper</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Brown and drain the ground beef. Put all of the ingredients into a stock pot and simmer for one to two hours, stirring occasionally. I don't have exact measurements for the spices. I just sort of guess but it always tastes great! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Top with cheese and sour cream if you'd like and serve with warm corn bread! Enjoy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We also enjoyed a surprise visit from our much loved and missed friends, the Farnhams from Pennsylvania.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The kids stopped playing just long enough to snap a picture while at Play Mobil.</div>

I may never do it. <br />
<br />
Today was our first day of Home-School!!! Ella is in 1st grade now and Lucas is in K4. It was a great first day. A little slow going and only 10 minutes after starting I realized Kinslie had a fever and it seems that she has the Hand, Foot and Mouth disease. I let her watch a movie and she fell asleep so we actually had a surprisingly smooth first day. Next Thursday we will start our Classical Conversations (CC) group on Thursdays and I'm super excited about that.<br />
Here are pictures of Ella and Lucas at their desks in the "new" school room!<br />

I used a nude polish that I found at CVS called Spoiled by Wet n Wild, color -Show Me Some Skin. It was only $2 and it has a thick flat brush that made the polish go on really great. I haven't had any trouble with it staying on either. I'm not sure why I usually pay $6 or more for polish. I think I'll go back for more! The sparkles are essie, color -set in stones.<br />

Christmas morning!!! Up early and right to the breakfast table. This year we decided that it would be a good idea to let the kids open their stockings while we got breakfast ready.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ya5UGt-oPW8/TwEWQob_DKI/AAAAAAAAA8g/6EN7XtIiYuE/s1600/Christmas+013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ya5UGt-oPW8/TwEWQob_DKI/AAAAAAAAA8g/6EN7XtIiYuE/s320/Christmas+013.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Every Christmas after breakfast Brian reads the Christmas story (from a children's Bible for now).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sorry it's blurry!! </div>

Kinslie's still doesn't have a name. I may have to wait till next year.</div>

Bake Cookies</b> ~ We must have lots of Cookies for Christmas! My all time favorites are Kiss cookies. (most know them as peanut butter blossoms.)<br />
<br />
<b>24. Christmas Eve Candle light service and open 2 gifts. </b> ~Our church service was lovely and the kids were bubbling with excitement to open a present. On Christmas Eve the kids get to to open two presents... One is always and ornament for the tree and the other is new jammies! Of course if forgot to have the camera out while they were opening the gifts. But I did take pictures of their ornaments.<br />

Really the best part of the day was the Brian was home all day! He has been so busy with work that we haven't seen must of him. I'm so thankful he is able to set work aside for a couple of days!! Ella carefully set up her stuffed nativity set that Grandma Jean made for her a couple of years ago and took some pictures. She loves to take pictures!! I can see it as an interest and talent that may stick with her for years to come. Now, she is only 5 so you can't really see any "talent" yet but she sure enjoys it and puts a lot of thought into it!</div>

Surprise!... As Ella was taking pictures of EVERYTHING Christmas in the whole house she discovered that there was something in the kids stockings. This was fun and Ella had eve more fun eating the mess!<br />
<br />
Brian informed us that to go look at lights we must have cookies and milk. A great opportunity to try one of the many recipes I have pinned on Pinterest. I chose one called Gingerbread Softies. Sounds amazing already right?!?! You can find the full recipe<a href="http://www.dana-made-it.com/2011/12/day-5-gingerbread-softies.html" target="_blank"> here.</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vpQ3QvtOLB8/TvLXKu_NYcI/AAAAAAAAA3c/4EY_34iF-mg/s1600/Gingerbread+Softies+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vpQ3QvtOLB8/TvLXKu_NYcI/AAAAAAAAA3c/4EY_34iF-mg/s200/Gingerbread+Softies+001.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h0qAH-xp0nU/TvLXCrL5uUI/AAAAAAAAA3E/PyKWglchu8k/s1600/Gingerbread+Softies+004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h0qAH-xp0nU/TvLXCrL5uUI/AAAAAAAAA3E/PyKWglchu8k/s200/Gingerbread+Softies+004.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It made a really thick dough that was easy to work with.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4cyHdSG68I4/TvLXHu7ib2I/AAAAAAAAA3U/MAWiwiH_TL0/s1600/Gingerbread+Softies+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4cyHdSG68I4/TvLXHu7ib2I/AAAAAAAAA3U/MAWiwiH_TL0/s200/Gingerbread+Softies+002.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uLGJX7kmUYg/TvLW6Z4HrpI/AAAAAAAAA2s/d3T6lU0v9b0/s1600/Gingerbread+Softies+007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uLGJX7kmUYg/TvLW6Z4HrpI/AAAAAAAAA2s/d3T6lU0v9b0/s200/Gingerbread+Softies+007.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Before and After</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FAXgF8f_09c/TvLXAADeCJI/AAAAAAAAA28/mUq8Eay5P3M/s1600/Gingerbread+Softies+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FAXgF8f_09c/TvLXAADeCJI/AAAAAAAAA28/mUq8Eay5P3M/s320/Gingerbread+Softies+005.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ella came into the kitchen and said "wait... where are the Christmas cookies?" I told her that's what I was making. She said they just look like regular cookies. So this is what I did to make them a little more Christmasy. I got out the Christmas cookie cutters and since the dough was more sticky than a typical roll out and cut dough, I put a small ball of dough between two layers of wax paper to roll it.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UblcavtUciU/TvLW9IMRADI/AAAAAAAAA20/HL3Cb-CXJIM/s1600/Gingerbread+Softies+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UblcavtUciU/TvLW9IMRADI/AAAAAAAAA20/HL3Cb-CXJIM/s200/Gingerbread+Softies+006.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7lRkM7U7WGg/TvLW4i-BYHI/AAAAAAAAA2k/i4X4T-7ooPU/s1600/Gingerbread+Softies+008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7lRkM7U7WGg/TvLW4i-BYHI/AAAAAAAAA2k/i4X4T-7ooPU/s200/Gingerbread+Softies+008.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Peel back one layer of wax paper and cut with a cookie cutter. I scraped away the extra dough before picking up the cookie cutter then sprinkled it with sugar, turned it over onto my hand and then peeled off the wax paper and sprinkled the back with sugar. It actually worked out really well! and I didn't even have to wash my rolling pin. ; ) I only baked that batch for 6 or 7 minutes. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CV2x_xkelgA/TvLW0Q00K_I/AAAAAAAAA2U/f0yqrM1abwk/s1600/Gingerbread+Softies+010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CV2x_xkelgA/TvLW0Q00K_I/AAAAAAAAA2U/f0yqrM1abwk/s320/Gingerbread+Softies+010.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I should have known when I read through the recipe and it said measurements like 2 cups sugar and 4 cups flour, but is sure made a HUGE batch of cookies... It made 53 cookies and 8 shaped ones. And OH BOY they sure are YUMMY!!! SO soft!! I LOVE gingerbread flavor but would prefer soft rather than crunchy cookies so these are ideal for my liking!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-agybxLk-HzM/TvLWxQ-CYmI/AAAAAAAAA2M/BGoWLbvFTuI/s1600/Gingerbread+Softies+011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-agybxLk-HzM/TvLWxQ-CYmI/AAAAAAAAA2M/BGoWLbvFTuI/s320/Gingerbread+Softies+011.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This picture is for my Mother... this is only 15 minutes after the last batch of cookies came out of the oven... and all dishes are clean or in the dishwasher and the counters are wiped clean. I cleaned up as I went along. (insert proud smile)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Looking at lights was a lot of fun and we all enjoyed the cookies and milk! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<b> 22. Christmas Special Movie.</b> ~We watched the Prep & Landing Christmas Specials on ABC and enjoyed popcorn and hot chocolate with marshmallows. It was a cute show and a fun family time!<br />

Merry-almost-Christmas! We can hardly contain ourselves!... Lucas woke up from his nap today crying because it wasn't Christmas yet. Oh, the anticipation!</div>Krissiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02578324620577377185noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2002482606413904063.post-39682536924001661762011-12-21T23:43:00.002-05:002011-12-22T01:01:02.536-05:00MakeupI am NO expert when it comes to makeup or hair but I can get a little excited about it! Especially when I find something or try a style that actually works!<br />
So Saturday during my lovely and quiet shopping time with only Kinslie in toe Brian said I could get some makeup that I had been asking for for quite a while. So I went to Sephora and came home with...
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-P-rH24UOTCA/TvK-xJXX9qI/AAAAAAAAA1U/XDqm2-H9AUQ/s1600/Make-up+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-P-rH24UOTCA/TvK-xJXX9qI/AAAAAAAAA1U/XDqm2-H9AUQ/s320/Make-up+001.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bare Minerals starter kit and Tarte sample set. Makeup brush cleaner and two samples for waiting in line. Cool!! I returned the brush cleaner because I was told you could use mild face was instead. Since I've never cleaned my brushes before anything will be better than nothing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-shhTbhq8rOE/TvK-sNvhwUI/AAAAAAAAA1E/ovjnYLtQbXg/s1600/Make-up+003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-shhTbhq8rOE/TvK-sNvhwUI/AAAAAAAAA1E/ovjnYLtQbXg/s320/Make-up+003.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Bare Minerals kit came with custom color foundation powder, warmth powder and mineral veil finishing powder. Prime Time, foundation primer and brushes for each powder. I'm liking it so far but I'm not super picky!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CtpKk_W9ewo/TvK-uclR03I/AAAAAAAAA1M/UKh0AVwb5qM/s1600/Make-up+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CtpKk_W9ewo/TvK-uclR03I/AAAAAAAAA1M/UKh0AVwb5qM/s320/Make-up+002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I just happened to ask a makeup lady in the store about the Bare Minerals who was a rep for Tarte. I've never even heard of it before but now i know it's a natural line that is designed to be a little more exciting than all the others. I bought the set just to get the Amazonian clay eyeliner -brown-. It actually has clay from the Amazon River in it. It's not liquid but it's not solid like a pencil either. You put it on with a brush. It's just cool. Along with it there was a natural cheek stain -flush-. I really wasn't sure about this one. It's the texture of chapstick so I just wasn't sure how it would go on. But it actually blends in nice and soft. The lights, camera, lashes mascara is pretty great. And then LipSurgence lip tint -enchanted- is also really neat. It's very smooth and lasts a long time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h1NFXAM5DmA/TvK-oPoicmI/AAAAAAAAA00/USyEFE-FOrU/s1600/Make-up+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h1NFXAM5DmA/TvK-oPoicmI/AAAAAAAAA00/USyEFE-FOrU/s200/Make-up+005.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also picked up an angled eye shadow brush because I had a gift card left over for Bloomingdale's. And I love it! And I really love free stuff! : ) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So needless to say I have been having a bit of fun with my makeup the last few days! What is your favorite makeup product?</div>Krissiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02578324620577377185noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2002482606413904063.post-32218144501481283012011-12-21T23:41:00.000-05:002011-12-21T23:53:27.709-05:00It's all about Christ our Savior!<div style="text-align: right;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1RXPj_LQyqo/TvKsACjkFAI/AAAAAAAAAzw/tzCCIsVhaMo/s1600/Nativity+Ornament+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1RXPj_LQyqo/TvKsACjkFAI/AAAAAAAAAzw/tzCCIsVhaMo/s320/Nativity+Ornament+005.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
As I have been so busy with all the goings on of this festive time of year I have been reminded to keep the focus on Christ! Lately I have been thinking a lot about the "gift"of Christ. I have seen signs and artwork that say "True love was born in a stable". It is a sweet thought but more importantly it is true! God out of His loving kindness gave the sinful world the gift of Salvation in His Son. What greater love could there be?<br />
<br />
I read this article on a blog called the <a href="http://thecripplegate.com/7-questions-from-christmas-haters/#more-3363" target="_blank">Cripplegate that answers 7 questions about true Christmas</a>. The first question he addresses is; What is Christmas? His answer: "<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px;">Christmas is the celebration of Jesus’ incarnation. This is actually the most critical of all the questions. When Christmas is simply seen as the celebration of God becoming man, the rest of the questions should grow wings and take flight." -Jesse Johnson</span><br />
<br />
He also said this in response to; If it is Jesus' Birthday, why do we give gifts to each other?:<br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px;">Christmas is not so much Jesus’ birthday, as it is a celebration of God giving his son to the world. “Birthday” sort of trivializes it. But we give gifts because Christmas is a celebration of God’s gift to us. Christmas is an occasion to show love and joy to those whom we love, and it is a time of celebration. Gifts are simply a way to express that joyful celebration. -Jesse Johnson</span><br />
<br />
These are things I have known and "believed" but never understood and adopted as my own convictions. I have had a wonderful Christmas season this year! Maybe it's because I got shopping done a little earlier than usual or because my house is more in order than usual or maybe it is because I have directed my attention intentionally toward Christ and the undeserving gift I have been given and the joy of that has overflowed as Christmas cheer!<br />
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you! I pray that you know the true gift of Love in Salvation this Christmas and all to come!<br />
<br />
<br />
I can't help but share this article also... I am often asked why my kids don't believe in Santa... I just say... "Well, he's not real and Jesus Christ is." and leave it at that but this article shares great biblical truth on the matter and is pretty much how we feel about it too! <a href="http://thecripplegate.com/why-lie-to-your-kids-about-santa/" target="_blank">The Cripplegate- Santa?</a> Obviously, from previous posts, we have a lot of fun with Christmas... Hiding Elves, and seeing Santa movies but we and the kids know it's all pretend just like other fairy-tale type movies. And we enjoy it just the same.Krissiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02578324620577377185noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2002482606413904063.post-37482902889735247452011-12-21T02:06:00.000-05:002011-12-21T23:50:36.632-05:0025 days of Christmas... part 2<b>10. Make Christmas Crafts</b>. ~We made a few crafts as gifts this year... I can't post pictures or it would ruin the surprise for some of you. But I can share about one of them because it has already been given.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9UnGAoDLgDY/TvFxqYhiwEI/AAAAAAAAAuw/UZQJXyN19qY/s1600/36118.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9UnGAoDLgDY/TvFxqYhiwEI/AAAAAAAAAuw/UZQJXyN19qY/s320/36118.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cookie cutter Christmas ornaments. These were fun but a little tricky and I loved how they turned out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First use the cookie cutters as stencils to trace and cut the pictures. I also used black construction paper behind each picture to fill in some holes. Punch a hole at the top of each picture. It's hard to see but we also dipped the front edge of the cookie cutters in glue then glitter. Let that dry then dip the back edge in glue and put the pictures on. I placed them on tin foil and set a book on top to let dry. String a ribbon through the hole and give to someone you love!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
BTW: I have been saving the foam trays that come when you buy a bundle of apples or vegetables at the grocery store. They are GREAT for crafts! Paint or glue trays, great to hold small buttons and pom poms or as a glitter catcher. See...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q4bMdM4dVeg/TvF0AXmy8QI/AAAAAAAAAvA/X-TRpJPQKzI/s1600/Christmas+craft+009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q4bMdM4dVeg/TvF0AXmy8QI/AAAAAAAAAvA/X-TRpJPQKzI/s320/Christmas+craft+009.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And then the kids also made popsicle stick snowflakes, just for fun.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6_N0J6DFj-w/TvFxfW0HrUI/AAAAAAAAAuo/hp6ndDSw6YM/s1600/Christmas+craft+012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6_N0J6DFj-w/TvFxfW0HrUI/AAAAAAAAAuo/hp6ndDSw6YM/s200/Christmas+craft+012.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IgTYoLZA-uU/TvFz0lcx5gI/AAAAAAAAAu4/TUSCEjrOmL0/s1600/Christmas+craft+010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IgTYoLZA-uU/TvFz0lcx5gI/AAAAAAAAAu4/TUSCEjrOmL0/s200/Christmas+craft+010.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ella's and Lucas'</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then we had Pumpkin Pancakes!! Yum!! Recipe <a href="http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/spicy-pumpkin-pancakes/f93e66ed-68c6-4f1d-8f98-5dcbd90ed36e" target="_blank">here</a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">11.</span><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="text-align: -webkit-auto; white-space: pre;"> </span></b><span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><b>Christmas with Papa and Nana.</b> ~This is such a great story! Ready?... Saturday morning I got a phone call from Brian's mom. (They live in Indiana) She told me our Christmas presents were going to arrive that night at 10:30. I couldn't figure out how she knew the exact time and why so late on a Saturday night? She went on to say they were coming in to the Palm Beach airport. She said she was thinking about sending the kids presents and thought it would be so much fun to deliver them in person. So as long as we didn't have plans they would be on their way. See, She's a flight attendant so they can do that. So they jumped on a plane and came! We woke the kids up when Papa and Nana got to the house for a midnight Christmas party. The next morning we had a big breakfast and celebrated Christmas together! It was so much fun! They had to leave around 2 that very day so it was a very short trip but the best surprise of the year! I love their spontaneity!</span>

Nana and Kins!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lucas really was around the whole time but for some reason missed getting in the pictures.</div>

<br /></div>
<b>12.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span> Play a game together</b> ~At the Dollar store we found a card game with Bible trivia questions. It's a lot of fun. At least Ella and I have enjoyed it!<br />
<br />
<b>13.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span> Bethlehem Village</b> ~In Coral Springs there is a church that builds a huge Bethlehem village for people to visit. We went 2 years ago and it was just as much fun this year!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
While waiting in line the Roman guards walked around interacting with the people. They were not very nice! (acting) but it did scare Ella a little bit. Then we saw the shepherds in the fields and they told us about the angels announcement of the Saviors birth!</div>

There were lots of other booths where we learned how they made bread, olive oil, paper and ink. There was so much to see! And of couse finally we found baby Jesus in the stable with Mary, Joseph and the animals!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Funny story: After we left Ella said "that baby pretending to be Jesus was really a girl baby Mommy." I asked her how she could know that. She said it must be because it has curly hair! Ha-ha!</div>

<b>15.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span> Christmas Concert</b> ~Our Church puts on a wonderful Christmas concert and this year we waited too late to get our tickets so we went on Thursday night to the dress rehearsal. The music was amazing and it was nice to be able to let the kids move around a little bit.<br />
<br />
<b>16.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span> Wrap and take gifts to ITA</b> ~Brian bought a small tree for the office so Ella has been asking to get presents for everyone there. So we had picked out some dart guns and shooters from the dollar store for them. Ella LOVES to wrap and the guys at the office really seemed to have fun opening up some toys!<br />
<br />
<b>17.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span> Christmas shopping with Daddy</b> ~Brian took Ella and Lucas to the mall to do some shopping for me... insert excited grin. Kinslie and I tagged along but went to different stores. It was one of the most quiet and enjoyable shopping days I have had in a long time! I enjoyed myself very much! And got some new makeup. I'll post about that later. Brian said Ella displayed amazing shopping skills... They would go into a store, he directed her to the right section and let her pick a few things. When she made some choices they talked about prices and she made the choice and then paid for it by herself too! That's my girl! : )<br />
<br />
<b>18.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span> Make a Christmas craft</b> ~Sock Snowman. SO easy and the kids are loving them! They are just filled with rice and we used rubber bands to separate the two parts and tie off the top. Glued on eyes and buttons with hot glue.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pZwkMJjgbiA/TvKbpQCZ1gI/AAAAAAAAAzM/U31iOv8vUwY/s1600/Sock+Snow-men+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pZwkMJjgbiA/TvKbpQCZ1gI/AAAAAAAAAzM/U31iOv8vUwY/s320/Sock+Snow-men+001.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>19.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span> Bake for neighbors and deliver</b> ~I tried a new recipe to give to our neighbors this year. It's Pumpkin and Cream Bread. It was quite yummy!! Get the recipe <a href="http://www.sundaybaker.net/2011/09/pumpkin-cream-bread-low-calorie.html" target="_blank">here</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<b>20.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span> Gift wrapping Day</b> ~Ella has gained my love of wrapping! So we got started on all the wrapping to be done!<br />
<br />
Only 4 more countdown days to come!<br />

Of course the kids look forward to what we get to do each day but I also have been having a lot of fun planning special things to do! I look forward to their excitement!<br />
I have often hesitated to embark on this sort of thing for fear of failure... "what if I forget or just don't have time?" or "that craft will make such a mess... I'm just not willing to try it." But I have been learning not to fear failure, just to do my best. (like I tell Ella when she struggles with handwriting. If only I took all the advice I give my children... by God's grace, one day at a time.) So, I'm so glad we started such a fun journey to Christmas! And it really hasn't been hard to keep up with! <br />
Surprise! -sarcasm.<br />
This is what we have done for the first 8 days...<br />
1. Get a Christmas Tree and Watch a Christmas Movie. ~We actually did this on Nov 28th but since I decided to start this on Dec. 1 I counted that as our first Christmas festivity.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3 little Bares on the hunt for the perfect Christmas Tree! - Ella's pretty happy about this adventure! Love her!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lucas is on the run, Daddy is coming with the tree!! - Our Tree! Ta-Da!</div>
<br />
2. Decorate Tree! ~It was so much fun to see the kids get excited about their ornaments from years past! And I totally forgot to take pictures! I'm still getting into the habit.<br />
<br />
3. Christmas Shop for Brother/Sister. ~We took the kids to toys R us and let Ella and Lucas each pick a toy for the other. Lucas did so much better at making a choice than he did last year! It was a successful trip!<br />
<br />
4. Cut out paper snowflakes. ~Not the best project for a 5 year old and not at all for a 3 year old. I helped Ella and we ended up with some lovely snowflakes and she had lots of fun putting them anywhere she wanted around the house. (allowing this kind of freedom to the kids is not easy for me. I usually want to tell her just where to put it... Again, I'm learning!! And it makes me smile when I see each snowflake in a funny place)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On the hand rail for the stairs - on the bathroom mirror - on back door handle.</div>
<br />
5. Make Christmas gifts. ~We had a couple of special craft projects we did this year for Christmas presents. Unfortunately I can't post pictures or share details or else it would spoil the surprise. After Christmas I'll try to remember to share those ideas.<br />
<br />
6. Go to the Library and borrow Christmas books. ~We haven't taken the time to go to the Library in a very long time. It must become more of a regular thing! I wasn't too pleased with the selection of Christmas books. I guess I shouldn't be surprised but we brought home all that we could find and have been enjoying them!<br />
<br />
7. Make a fort and do School in it. ~This is a favorite so far! I loved making forts out of sheets and blankets when I was a kid! And it sure was fun even now!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fwEsG0O8Kdo/TuG1cMPkAsI/AAAAAAAAAuE/cax0Dbed3nU/s1600/Fort+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fwEsG0O8Kdo/TuG1cMPkAsI/AAAAAAAAAuE/cax0Dbed3nU/s200/Fort+001.JPG" width="200" /></a>Fort supplies: String, Tall sticks or broom, clothes pins and hair ties, and LOTS of sheets and blankets.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eVqYld1Fhio/TuG1Zzzm4TI/AAAAAAAAAt8/RxjYj01_Jb8/s1600/Fort+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eVqYld1Fhio/TuG1Zzzm4TI/AAAAAAAAAt8/RxjYj01_Jb8/s200/Fort+005.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EcvFUS5fDUo/TuG1YR8IE2I/AAAAAAAAAt0/c8kkRgqNuhA/s1600/Fort+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EcvFUS5fDUo/TuG1YR8IE2I/AAAAAAAAAt0/c8kkRgqNuhA/s200/Fort+006.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The finished fort. It covered the whole school room! - Playing /"sleeping" inside! Lots of fun! and a great place to read the library books we just got.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
8. Christmas Shopping (today) ~We spent the whole day out finishing Christmas shopping. The fun part for the kids was getting the choose some gifts for friends at the dollar store. They also picked some things for all the guys that work with Daddy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And Tomorrow:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
9. Christmas Movie at the Theater. ~We plan to go to Arthur Christmas. The kids always get excited about going to the theater and all that it involves. popcorn, drinks, sometimes candy... we'll see. It should be fun as long as Kinslie will sit still for some of it! We'll let you know how it goes and how the movie was.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's all for now... More surprises to come!</div>Krissiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02578324620577377185noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2002482606413904063.post-61387190428195390762011-12-05T12:43:00.000-05:002011-12-21T23:49:29.625-05:00New Christmas TraditionsThis year I have begun two new (to us) Christmas traditions... so far. <br />
<br />
First, I'll share a few of my favorite traditions that we have from years past.<br />
On Christmas Eve, after the candle light service at church, the kids get to open two presents. This NEVER happened in my house growing up! All gifts must be saved for after breakfast on Christmas Day. It made the anticipation almost unbearable but I loved it! One of the kids gifts is always an ornament that is a memory from the year. (this is one Brian had as a child) The other is pajamas to wear that night. (I just love new jammies!)<br />
On Christmas Day we must have Cinnamon Rolls (for me) and Oreo Cookie Pie "OCP" (for Brian. Yes, for breakfast) The kids choice of breakfast changes from year to year but I think they are growing to love the OCP more every time we have it. Sorry Daddy! -less for you. Sticking to my childhood tradition we build excitement by waiting till after breakfast to open stockings first then we move to the tree for the rest of the gifts. My favorite tradition from my childhood was being blindfolded to come out of the bedroom to the breakfast table. (so we couldn't see the tree and gifts. Just more anticipation. Can you even handle it? I loved it!) My Sweet Brian even blindfolded me the first year we were married! <b>Love him!</b> And we have done it with the kids if the are old enough and willing. I'm not sure it will stick for us but it's fun for now!<br />
<br />
On to the new traditions... <br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1. The Elf on the Shelf! </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Brian grew up with this tradition before there was a book and everything in the stores. Last year his mom, Nana, gave each of the kids one of the elves that she has had for these 20-or-so years. How special! So each night they find a new place to hide around the house and the kids get to find their own in the morning. They love this!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NCyZRzqcs5c/TtyMvi_0DGI/AAAAAAAAAsc/BFsQhbc2DF0/s1600/Elves+on+the+Shelves+009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="148" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NCyZRzqcs5c/TtyMvi_0DGI/AAAAAAAAAsc/BFsQhbc2DF0/s200/Elves+on+the+Shelves+009.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ai6nSzhVCRQ/TtyMxDyTRrI/AAAAAAAAAsk/SJkcf_91-34/s1600/Elves+on+the+Shelves+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ai6nSzhVCRQ/TtyMxDyTRrI/AAAAAAAAAsk/SJkcf_91-34/s200/Elves+on+the+Shelves+006.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
2. Countdown Calendar and Surprises!<br />
We have had a countdown calendar for a couple of years but I've never found a good way to use it. It has little boxes but I didn't know what to put in it. I didn't like the idea of candy but couldn't think of anything else. This year I came across a post suggesting a surprise for each day. Something like, make a Christmas craft, cut out paper snowflakes, borrow Christmas books from the library or go look at Christmas lights. Love it! (thought it takes some planning on my part.) I found some great ideas <a href="http://justagirlblog.com/2010/12/christmas-advent-jar.html" target="_blank">here</a> and mixed them in with ideas of my own. Another thing for the kids to look forward to each morning!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Hooray for Christmas FUN!!<br />
<br />
By the way... I just got this nifty little tool from Michaels... I'm loving it for Christmas projects! (like to write the surprise for each day on)<br />

The house and the tree are decorated, shopping is almost done, Christmas cards have started to arrive and it's about time to start baking! Oh, and I<b> can't wait </b>to do the gift wrapping!<br />
Here are some of the things that make our home feel worm and festive, ready to celebrate the birth of our Lord!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XQAdasC39eA/Ttx6YmSDSmI/AAAAAAAAArU/4SdwyWhsZaw/s1600/Christmas+Tree+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XQAdasC39eA/Ttx6YmSDSmI/AAAAAAAAArU/4SdwyWhsZaw/s320/Christmas+Tree+001.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Tree!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It has to be in the corner this year. We rearranged our living room a few months ago and this is the only place for it without moving every piece of furniture. It's actually kind of nice to have it less accessible to Kinslie. We will just pull the chair on the right away for Christmas day.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The kids really had fun getting out ornaments from the past few years! I love how sweet and sentimental Lucas gets about this kid of thing. He's such a sweetheart.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--mo4tIW31z8/Ttx6fXa9hTI/AAAAAAAAArs/vLXrf87F5OQ/s1600/Christmas+Decorations+009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--mo4tIW31z8/Ttx6fXa9hTI/AAAAAAAAArs/vLXrf87F5OQ/s320/Christmas+Decorations+009.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh my lovely stockings from Pottery Barn. I have been waiting for these for years. Last year Brian let me get one for Ella and Lucas and this year before I had even given it a lot of thought he took me to the store in the mall and said we could pick Kinslie's! (They are still waiting to have names sewn on them. I hope to get that done before Christmas arrives.) Maybe next year we can get the matching ones for Brian and I.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1rxi_vuyJ0M/Ttx6bLboXdI/AAAAAAAAArc/9AELSepFkcM/s1600/Christmas+Decorations+016.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1rxi_vuyJ0M/Ttx6bLboXdI/AAAAAAAAArc/9AELSepFkcM/s200/Christmas+Decorations+016.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aO48cEQ1hUM/Ttx6dX_ByaI/AAAAAAAAArk/sg658J6ZF1o/s1600/Christmas+Decorations+012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aO48cEQ1hUM/Ttx6dX_ByaI/AAAAAAAAArk/sg658J6ZF1o/s200/Christmas+Decorations+012.JPG" width="150" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It the small touches are special. Some Christmas cheer on the window sill over the kitchen sink. And one of my favorite Antique store finds... I think it is a couple of buckets from an old grin elevator. Each season I ad something new to dress it up. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sgcPoJp3IgI/Ttx6hqtJx_I/AAAAAAAAAr0/lQVzpbraDB8/s1600/Christmas+Decorations+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sgcPoJp3IgI/Ttx6hqtJx_I/AAAAAAAAAr0/lQVzpbraDB8/s320/Christmas+Decorations+001.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My Favorite... The Nativity scene! In a perfect place, on my favorite piece of furniture, my blue china hutch. (it's a dumpster find from about 6 years ago! SCORE! I'll have to post a picture of the full piece sometime.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As a child I remember how special it was unwrapping each piece of the Nativity. It was a pearly blue, ceramic set that my Grandma had made. And my most favorite part of decorating! Sweet memories! I love that we are creating that kind of memories for my own kids now!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope your home is feeling Merry and Bright! Happy Christmas Season!</div>Krissiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02578324620577377185noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2002482606413904063.post-83709496742541156062011-11-11T00:37:00.001-05:002011-12-21T23:49:09.232-05:00Fall Fun!I just found this post saved as a draft waiting to be posted. oops! I'm slacking! <br />
-------------------------------------------------------------------<br />
<br />
Fall is my FAVORITE time of the year. I love when the air starts to feel... cool. It doesn't happen early enough or last long enough here in Florida but I'll take whatever I can get. One of my favorite parts of fall is the Beautiful, Colorful leaves. I haven't gotten to see true fall leave in years but I still love that somewhere I know they are changing!<br />
We have had a lovely fall so far this year...<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br />
I got rid of quite a bit from my closet! It was sad to let go of some clothes that I've had since high school but really... even if I could fit into them, they really aren't my style now. So away they went along with lots of other junk. Other things have just been relocated. I'm happy with the result!!!<br />

My task to complete: "the closet" my clothes closet has become the catch-all for anything that doesn't have a place. We don't have much storage space in this town home so every little corner of the closets gets used. But it has started to feel very cramped in there. So I'm going to do as a friend suggested... Sort with this in mind.... "place it", "pass it" or "pitch it". So since I am "just gona do it" rather than sit and waste my afternoon, I also decided to just post it also. I'll try to remember to let you know how it goes!<br />
~ Have a blessed Lords day all my loved ones!Krissiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02578324620577377185noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2002482606413904063.post-65657928663750091902011-10-09T21:46:00.000-04:002011-12-21T23:47:23.234-05:00Sweet Home... Ella started Kindergarten! AND we are home-schooling! It's been a fun adventure! <br />
Our first day of school was August 23. This is the school table.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-akiumM4Yj6g/TpElf4kwpkI/AAAAAAAAAbg/MFOAVt0PD-c/s1600/1st+Day+of+Home-School+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-akiumM4Yj6g/TpElf4kwpkI/AAAAAAAAAbg/MFOAVt0PD-c/s320/1st+Day+of+Home-School+001.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
We have school at home 3 days a week and one day at Classical Conversations, aka: CC (see details about this below). Besides the CC curriculum we have Bible, Handwriting, Math and Reading. <br />
Ella's favorite subject is Math. It's a lot of fun right now learning the calendar, playing with shapes and blocks to make patterns. I think it may be a little too easy for her... she's beyond shapes and colors. So this week we are going to start the 1st grade book to see how it goes. (I love home-schooling for this reason. -We can work at her pace in each subject. Focus on specific interests or areas of weakness. )<br />
Handwriting is her least favorite. She struggles with being positive and motivated when she doesn't get it right the very first time. But when she slows down, and thinks through each letter she does very well and that makes her very happy. Hard work brings great reward!<br />
Our "theme" Bible verse is Colossians 3:23 "Whatever you do, do all of your work, hardily, as unto the Lord and not for men." I try to help her to focus on doing her best and that doesn't always mean perfect.<br />
<br />
New school supplies!! I included Lucas in this treat too! Pencils, glue, scisors, tape, crayons, etc.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">About Classical Conversations (CC)</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit;"> CC<span class="Arial-12-gray-bold" style="list-style-type: none; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;"> programs model</span> the three stages of classical learning—grammar (elementary), dialectic(4th -6th grade), and rhetoric (Jr. high and high school). Ella is the grammar stage, Using age appropriate methods, <span class="arial-11-gray-bold" style="font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: bold; line-height: normal; list-style-type: none; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; text-decoration: none; text-transform: none;">children are taught the tools for studying any subject. </span>The Classical model emphasizes mastery of facts during the early years. This gives students a foundation on which to build later learning and a solid framework where ideas can be categorized and compared as students mature. The subjects in the CC curriculum are History and timeline (from creation to current events), science, grammar, geography, latin and art</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit;">Every week each child gives a presentation (a little bit like show and tell for the 5 year olds). They are learning to speak in front of peers as well as listen to others speak. Ella loves this! She loves everything about CC! They have created a very exciting learning environment! I also am excited about the education I am getting! :)</span><br />

<br />
Hi Ella and Lucas! They have been my little "photographers helpers" each month. They can always get Kins to smile!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ut4MqwWnDmk/To_bB3h5VYI/AAAAAAAAAbQ/g9JT0-AUZ-w/s1600/1+YEAR%2521+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ut4MqwWnDmk/To_bB3h5VYI/AAAAAAAAAbQ/g9JT0-AUZ-w/s320/1+YEAR%2521+006.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
She's on the move!<br />

By the way: She has 5 teeth now. The last 3 have come within the last 4 weeks. It's a good thing to because she's been eating like a little piggy.<br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Our Dear, Long-lost, Friends and Family,</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"> It has bee 2 years, 8 months and 27 days since I last posted on this blog. I've never been a faithful blogger but I have recently been inspired to get back to it. I simply want this to be a way to keep our long distance family and friends updated with pictures and a close up look at some of our little adventures in life. During Kinslie's first year I was pretty good at sending an e-mail each month with some pictures but since she is a year now I don't take those monthly pictures anymore. This way I can post a little note and a few pics more often.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"> Since I'm "new-again" at blogging I'm not 100% sure but I think if you put your e-mail address in the box on the right hand side (scroll down a bit) you will get an e-mail each time I post so you can stay up to date with us more easily.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"> I hope that you enjoy this and I pray that my heart will stay faithful to this task of love.</span><br />

She had just touched the corner of a hot pan so she wasn't too excited about the cookies at this point... More concerned about her burn. </span></div><div><span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;font-size:130%;color:#006600;">I was curious to see how she would eat one of these... Cookie first or Chocolate. I should have known. She licked the chocolate right off before even a bite of the cookie! It put the cutest dot of chocolate on her chin that she could not reach with her tongue!</span></div><div><span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;font-size:130%;color:#006600;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;font-size:130%;color:#cc0000;">One more baking tradition...</span></div><div><span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;font-size:130%;color:#cc0000;">On Christmas Eve we went to Grandmama's house so she could show Ella how to make cinnamon rolls! That was lots of fun too! She got to roll the dough and her new sprinkling skills came in very handy with the cinnamon. </span></div><div> </div><div><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_cDjplCKmfQ0/SWvt66s-2lI/AAAAAAAAAYM/7SUj1ABQSDY/s1600-h/12-24-08+(7).JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5290583783722900050" style="WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_cDjplCKmfQ0/SWvt66s-2lI/AAAAAAAAAYM/7SUj1ABQSDY/s200/12-24-08+(7).JPG" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_cDjplCKmfQ0/SWvt6LssoQI/AAAAAAAAAYE/I_WG0VF0nGc/s1600-h/12-24-08+(3).JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5290583771105239298" style="WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_cDjplCKmfQ0/SWvt6LssoQI/AAAAAAAAAYE/I_WG0VF0nGc/s200/12-24-08+(3).JPG" border="0" /></a></div><div> </div><div><span style="font-family:Trebuchet MS;font-size:130%;color:#006600;">Yes, of course, we had Oreo Cookie Pie too but Ella didn't get in on that one this year.
